Community over competition

We live in an era where mental illness thrives, our lives perpetuate choices that bring a state of conflict internally. Yeah! We live in a state of cut throat competition. While that is true, it doesn’t have to be your reality or mine. We can choose to have a different reality.

Community is about support all around, it is about open loving rebuke and honest affirmations. In community we celebrate good and rebuke bad. Community was God’s way of Him visibly loving us. The enemy first attacked Community so that he’d take the love that we had been given so freely. He attacked the first ever relationship. He still attacks relationships and has a way of keeping love away from us. He brought in competition. Sadly life is not about swiftness or strength, it is not competition.

Three things I want to share

• Surround yourself with people who celebrate you.
• It is not a race; don’t compete, don’t compare and don’t envy.
• Every success is the beginning of a new round of hard work, keep developing yourself.

As you pursue goodness and greatness, pursue peace and wellness

• Celebrate people in your life.
• Rid yourself of malice, strife and envy they are devilish.
• Take it slow, think through your actions and show some empathy to those on your way.

A story is told about a farmer who kept winning awards because he produced the best corn in his region. It was known that he had the best corn and a journalist visited him to get to know how he did it. When the farmer was questioned about his strategy, he said that during planting season he supplied his neighbours with the best seed, exactly what he was planting because his neighbours seeds contributed to the quality of his produce. What a strategy?!!

What is your strategy?

Complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

Choose community and see real change, cheer your peers and celebrate their lives. You are light go shine in the community. Pray for your community, it goes along way in dealing with the devil.
